In line with our future growth strategy, we are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated professional to join the OT C2S Boxcut & Decline Construction in the capacity of Underground Supervisor. The successful candidate will be based on site and report to the Underground Superintendent and will manage a crew of Underground mining and service operators. The Successful candidate must be available for FIFO from home location.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Daily shift supervision of assigned mining and service crews for mining operations, with the aim of safely achieving the shift production targets.
  • Responsible for the safety of the underground operations, people and equipment in order to achieve the established safety, environmental and production goals.
  • Monitor closely all variables that have the potential to impact production efficiency.
  • Identify any mining procedures or requirements that may require review/testing or updating.
  • Maintain a daily diary record of operating issues, including frequent assessment of operator competency and update of training records.
  • Ensure compliance with all Thiess Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Instructions
  • Hand over to oncoming shift supervisor by updating status board, changeover book and marking off cuts on level plans, so oncoming Shift Supervisor has all information necessary to continue the smooth running of the mine.
  • Ensure good mobile plant operating practices are adhered to, damages are minimised, waste dumps, ore dumps, loader and truck operations are in accord to procedures.
  • Liaise with Plant Department on plant servicing and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure employees’ behaviour in the workplace is to company standards and where this is not the case, ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Report accidents and incidents immediately to Project Manager and assist in the preparation of written accident investigation reports.
  • Ensure information supplied and reported is accurate and timely.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe safe working practices of crew.
  • Provides support and coaching leadership to National Staff and Wages employees to enable knowledge transfer and developing capability. 

     

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in a similar position
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a site supervisor position
  • International work experience is advantageous
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills; Strong Mentoring skills; Good analytical and communication skills
