As our next Geologist reporting to the Technical Services Manager you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
The QCoal Northern Hub is situated 87km SW of the coastal town of Bowen in Central Queensland, about 200 kilometres northwest of Mackay and 6km south of Collinsville.
The role of the Geologist is to assist the Technical Services Manager in all aspects of the geology function for QCoal Northern Hub while offering specialist advice to the Operations Department to assist in driving the delivery of the mine’s performance targets and maximising the value of the resource. This is achieved through the effective delivery of best practise geology services and support to the mine. In the medium term, the Geologist will demonstrate ongoing performance improvement.
To be successful in this role you are required to have:
- A tertiary qualification in Geology
- Extensive experience working as a Mine Geologist, preferably in coal
- In depth knowledge of Geological practises in the coal mining industry
- Knowledge of relevant mining legislation including the Coal Mining Health & Safety Act
- Geotechnical experience considered beneficial
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills
- A high level of strategic thinking
- Strong leadership and talent development skills
